There's something about this small, "kute" motor that really grasps my attention. The slightly curved blades reduce the fact that it looks circular, round, or square all at once. The five blade is a cute touch for a room where you want your fan to be a statement piece (like living rooms). For bedrooms, I'd personally opt in for the three-bladed beauties to get a better RPM performance (air that you can feel underneath versus airflow movement in a room).
Highlights
The light kit ... is sooooo sleek; absolutely a gamechanger (especially on the white fans, the light kit just about looks like a white cap, until you turn it on). This fan's biggest highlight on the specification side of things is its DC motor; because let's be honest it has the looks going for it, too. In general, they're quieter, tend to last longer, and overall have better capabilities when it comes to control and smartphone integration.
For this specific fan, its DC motor gives it variable speeds (we're talking approximately 31ish speeds maybe that are used on a 0-100% range when using the app. You can change it from summer-mode to winter-mode at the touch of a button (ideally change this setting after the fan has come to a rest).
I can't forget about the Home-Away mode (use with fans that have a light kit). This will turn the light of the fan on and off at random, giving the appearance that someone is home, if you're going out for the night.
Probably my favorite feature of a ceiling fan (that is included with DC-motored Fanimation fans and all of the Modern Forms product line) is the Breeze or Fresh Air mode. This setting will fluctuate the speed of the fan, at random (high for some time, low for a few seconds, medium for a bit, etc.). I use this setting daily, unless I really want the fan to just blow on high the whole time. For nighttime reasons, it made a noticeable difference – we rarely have it on any other setting now.
App Control
The app control is really easy to use; adding a fan didn't take much time at all. The app lets you create a schedule, too: my suggestion, would be to schedule your fan to spin on full blast while you're away, then have it turn itself off around your general return-to-home time.
Do I have a Kute?
I do not – yet! I've got my eye on the brass with white blades though, for one of our bedrooms. The room measures about 12' x 14' so the 52" 3-blade will fit beautifully in place of the 56" four-blade that is in there now... Thinking about it being a girls room however, the idea of the five-blade catches my attention since it has a floral look to it. With the time I have to decide, I might sway either way, but I think it is fair to say that a Kute would definitely be a fan I'd purchase for my own home.
